Statistics released in 2012 by Nielsen show that 86.7% of Australian households are now connected to the internet and the major proportion of those connected are turning to the internet to search for the products and services they need.

Nowadays people go online first to get information about a product, service or business they’re interested in and that includes local suppliers. A website makes all your information available 24/7. These days the yellow pages in most households are used as a door stop rather than for searching.

There are many reasons why any business should have a web site.  Here are a few:

  • A business website gives your business legitimacy. People expect businesses to have their own websites, just as they used to expect businesses to have a real physical business address. Not having a Whybusiness website raises questions in customer’s eyes.
  • Your website is your business card to the multitude of people who are online searching for the product or service you are offering.

An information site is like a brochure that can display your products or services. It can be updated easily and will help your customers find out about what your business does and where you are, your contact details and hours of business. It can hold reference material for your products such as detailed assembly instructions, or how to gain the most from the product or service. An information website can also assist your customers or potential customers. For example let’s say you are a kitchen manufacturer. Your website could contain a number of useful instructions for basic maintenance of your products, like how to properly adjust the hinge on the cupboard door or how to clean and polish the sink. This sort of information builds a relationship with your customers and potential future customers.

E-commerce Website:

If you sell goods and those goods could be shipped to a customer then you should look at an e-commerce website. This type of site opens your business for sales 24 hours a day. As you can ship good anywhere, then your potential market could grow to a national or even a global market.

E-commerce gives your customers the ability to make a purchase without the barriers of time and distance. No matter where you are or what time of the day, your customer can easily purchase your product without you being there. So while you are waiting in line at the supermarket or out fishing on the weekend, you are still making money from your online store.

An e-commerce website is an extension of your physical store and can generate additional income that you would not normally get with a bricks and mortar shop. Products can be displayed and detailed information about each product can be included. This information can be updated or modified at any time through the administration section of your website.

Domain Name:

A Domain name is the internet address of your website. It is what the visitor will type into the address bar on their browser to reach your website. In most cases the name of your business would be the logical choice for your Domain name. However Domain names should, where ever possible be kept as short as possible to avoid typing errors by the visitor. An example would be where your current business name is very long like The dry cleaning centre of Richmond. This would then be www.thedrycleaningcentreofrichmond.com.au That’s a bit of a handful for a visitor. A simpler version of this might be www.richmonddryclean.com.au Keeping Domain names short makes it easier for your visitors to get to your site. To register a Domain name with a .com.au extension you must have an A.B.N. number. Your Domain name will be tied to this ABN when we register it for you.
